Virtual Meeting: A cost effective way of conducting business

Internet is a way for normal people like me to chat and have friends, but it has also been a good change for business operations in many ways. But unlike me, if you are a business person and need a good and a cost effective way to interact with your business associates, then web conferencing is just the right solution which internet provides.  You can easily conduct live meetings or have training seminars through this medium.  With the prices of fuel and gas hiking all the time, you do not have to worry about any expenses whenever an urgent meeting is required. All you have to do is to get together on the internet at the same time, and enjoy a comfortable meeting with a relaxed mind irrespective of the environment.  You may have to go to a specific URL address to be a part of the meeting.
 
Typically, a webinar is a one-way conference where one person speaks and others just get the information.  People involved in the meeting may not even be aware of each other.  Initially, there were a limited ways of conducting virtual meetings, people were mainly only able to conference through the use of a message board forum, but now there are many ways to communicate through the internet.  It is possible to see and hear everything in the meeting and not even leave your house.  Some of the different things that can be done during a meeting are slide presentations through PowerPoint which is very popular now, live video through the use of a web cam, web tours, Volp which is communication through microphone and or speakers, Whiteboard which is a highlighting on the slide presentation, and text chat.  

The progress in technology has made it all so simple and virtual meetings success is guaranteed. . One of the popular virtual environment sites known as Second Life now has a new virtual conference center. This is a place where each person can have an Avatar, which is a digital representation.  You can create your avatar to look any way you want and its name.  It is believed that within 5 to 10 years the new wide web will be this kind of 3D interactive experience.  In this virtual world, you can sit in a classroom; go to a café, or whatever.  The possibilities are endless.  There are about 10 million users already in Second Life.  The accounts are free but it does cost Linden dollars, which have to be purchased with US money.  Also, you can own your own virtual world if you wish to pay a fee. So, next time you think about a meeting, make it a virtual one!
