Instant Presentation Make Over Is Here
Facing a presentation?   Having to step up to the plate and stand in front of a room full of people to talk on a subject?   Dreading it beyond belief?   Well, you can take some kind of solace in the fact that you are a member of a very large club.   Millions of people the world over dread having to give a presentation.   In fact, fear of public speaking is the number one fear for millions.  This means people fear this even more than they fear death itself....
However, if you do have a presentation to give in the next few days (or hours), here are a few tips that should help you to feel more confident when you step up on the podium.
Know Your Audience
The first tip asks that you focus only on your audience.   This is is crucial if you are to appear professional and in control.   The easy temptation is to think about yourself in this situation.   It is easy to do this because your mind is running through a number of (imagined) scenarios.   You may be thinking that you will drop your notes, for example.   Or that you will make a huge mistake that will cost your firm the job.   You may even feel that you are so nervous that you will not be able to speak.  This is of course quite commonplace and these feelings are generally felt by everyone at some point.   However, if you do not focus on your audience, the ramifications are much worse.
You need to know, in other words, what kind of things your audience wants to hear.  If you do not know how to push their hot buttons in your speech then they will, at best, only pretend to listen.   Think about your audience, whether corporate or less formal, and learn what they would like to hear.   Think about how they would like you to speak.   If you can talk their language, in other words, you will have much more successful session.
Keep it simple
Think about any major speaker who has been in the news recently (Steve Jobs, for example), and you will notice that they pretty much stick to just one message in their presentations.   This means that they think of the one thing that they want their audience to hear and understand, whether it s a theme or a simple piece of information, and they build their presentation around that.   This is a key piece of advice, one that all speakers should follow.   This serves two purposes, delivering one message makes it seem important, and it also makes sure that no one gets confused.   Keep it simple, and reap the benefits.
Make it visual
Use visuals.  Make the visuals simple, and very pertinent to your message.   A picture can be ten times more effective than a sea of bullet points, so use them.   Use a few, but make them count.
So there are a few key tips that will make that impending presentation go well.    These tips are tried and tested.   They will take your presentation to the next level, so focus on them, and go and give the best presentation of your life.
